CHRIS DOOGAN AM, Deputy Chairman Residence: Term of Office: Deputy Chairman since December 2007. Director since March 2006. Current Directorships of other Community CPS Australia Limited related entities: Nil Current Directorships of non Community CPS Australia Limited related entities: Director, St Vincent’s Health Australia Limited; Director, St Vincent’s Healthcare Limited; Director, Centre for Customs and Excise Studies Pty Limited; Director, Grinston Pty Limited. Skills, experience and expertise: Chris is a company director and barrister. He is currently the Principal Member of the Commonwealth Statutory Fishing Rights Allocation Review Panel, a member of the Commonwealth Tax Practitioners Board and a member of the ACT Legal Practitioners Admission Board. He was formerly Chief Executive and Principal Registrar of the High Court of Australia and Secretary of the Council of Chief Justices of Australia and New Zealand. He previously occupied various positions in both the public and private sectors. In the private sector, he was the Managing Partner and Senior Commercial Partner of a prominent law firm and occupied a number of advisory positions in finance, education and health. He was also previously Chairman of a health insurance company, Australian Health Management Group Limited His previous public sector positions included Deputy Comptroller - General of Customs (and Comptroller – General at the time of his appointment to the High Court), Deputy Chief of the Export Inspection Service, Director of Investigations for the Commonwealth Ombudsman and Chairman of Law Courts Limited (a company owned by the Commonwealth of Australia and the State of New South Wales). Prior to joining the Board, Chris was a Director of CPS Credit Union Co-operative (ACT) Limited and Chairman of that credit union's former Governance Committee and Operations Committee. He has degrees in Administration and Law (Honours), is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a Fellow of the Australasian Mutuals Institute, a past Defence Fellow (as which he wrote a textbook on administrative law) and an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Canberra.
