Community CPS recognises that it has many responsibilities to its members and other stakeholders, so it has adopted a Code of Conduct that guides its business and its responsibilities.

Our Principles

The world movement of credit unions has defined the broad principles that guide the credit union philosophy.

As an active member of the Australian and world movements, Community CPS supports and adheres to these principles, which relate to credit unions' democratic structure, service to members and the social goals of credit unions.

Values, Ethics and Duties

Like other credit unions, Community CPS is driven by the core values and ethics of the Australian Credit Union Movement. We are conscious of the duties we have to those who have an interest in the organisation and its success.

The definition of those values is supplemented by a code of ethics, as well as a definition of our duties to stakeholders (those people and other organisations that have an interest in the credit union).

Mutual Banking Code of Practice

Community CPS also commits to and complies with the Mutual Banking Code of Practice. This code addresses particular obligations Community CPS has in dealings with members and has been designed to help you easily understand our products and services. It outlines 10 key promises to ensure that all credit unions and mutual building societies will be fair and ethical when dealing with you.

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

It is very important that you understand your rights and obligations under the EFT Code of Conduct. Whenever you use an ATM, pay by EFTPOS, complete a Telephone or Internet Banking transfer or use your Visa Debit card over the Phone or on the Internet, you are using an electronic means of transferring money.

These transfers are known as 'electronic funds transfer' (EFT). EFT is covered in Australia by a comprehensive code of practice that sets out rules about how electronic funds transfers should work. It also details your responsibilities when completing electronic funds transfers.

Code of Conduct

To ensure good corporate practice across the organisation, the Community CPS Board has adopted a Code of Conduct to set the standard for good behaviour by directors.

Financial Services Guide

The Financial Services Guide contains information that Community CPS, being the holder of an Australian financial services licence must provide to members when they seek financial advice and includes:

  • Who we are
  • The products and services we offer
  • Other providers we act for when providing some products and services, such as insurance
  • Remuneration that may be paid to us and others in relation to the products and services we offer
  • Relationships we have that could influence the recommendations we make
  • How we deal with any complaints made against us
