New Internet Banking security feature - Secure SMS Our new security feature, Secure SMS, enables you to use your mobile phone, home or work landline phone to authorise transactions in Internet Banking.
Secure SMS is a telephone based security system that is required for performing transactions that are considered a high security risk. When attempting to perform a high security risk transaction you will be prompted to request a 'SMS' code by clicking on the request button. A SMS or voicemail (when using a landline) will then be sent which includes a 6 digit numerical code. You will need to enter this code into the Internet Banking page to authorise certain transactions. Please note that you will not be required to enter a Secure SMS code if you perform transactions which are in your saved favourites.
As the Factor 2 icons and floating keyboard security features are no longer available, if you choose to refuse registration for Secure SMS, you will be unable to perform a number of transactions in Internet Banking. In order to register once you have refused, you will need to contact us to reset your access. If you have not already registered for Secure SMS, the next time you log on to Internet Banking you will be prompted to register. By registering you will be able to continue with the full range of Internet Banking transactions. Simply follow these instructions to register:
Note: If you do not have your original mobile, home or work phone that is currently registered on the system for Secure SMS, or you previously ‘Refused Registration' for this facility, please contact our Member Contact Centre on 13 25 85, or visit one of our Personal Financial Centres for assistance.
Alternate security arrangements can be made if you are unable to access a mobile phone or landline service by completing an Application for a Security Token.
For further information, please call us on 13 25 85.
